Sure, there are exceptions, like Obsidian creating Fallout: New Vegas for Bethesda, but exceptions are not the rule. That said, you have to be careful when a big studio sends a new entry of their IPs to a third-party developer.

ZeniMax Online did what it could to milk The Elder Scrolls universe with an ongoing stream of DLCs, micro-transactions, and add-ons. Instead, another member of its parent company ZeniMax took care of the online version. Bethesda Game Studios didn’t create the title.

It was a high bar to beat, even for Bethesda. What makes it a “bad” game is the standards Bethesda set with all the rest of the franchise.

It’s not a full TES game, but it’s still bigger and better than most MMORPGs in the market. The price is but a fraction of what a newer version of the series would cost and gives you tons of hours of experience. Let’s start by saying that I don’t consider The Elder Scrolls: Online an expensive game. The game was full of bags, lag issues, inconsistencies, bad animations, sub-par scores, and overall inconsistency and lousy quality back at launch. Since then, the studio has included many changes and rebranded the game as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Most fans despised the title because of its greedy monthly subscription system. Nine years after Skyrim premiered, Bethesda is still finding ways to keep the franchise alive and monetized.Īfter its 2014 release, TESO had negative reviews. The results point out there’s something good about the game. Like the rest of the franchise’s games, you select a character class and immerse yourself into a lengthy adventure. The Elder Scrolls Online is a persistent multiplayer open-world. The Elder Scrolls Online is also available through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service. “Join over 13 million players in the award-winning online multiplayer RPG and experience limitless adventure in a persistent Elder Scrolls world” Platforms: Windows 7/10 PC, macOS, PS4, Xbox One.

I have enjoyed my small time on PC though. Taking my sweet time progressing though as I don’t want to rush in & burn myself out. Grabbed the Blackwood collection and jumped in. That’s what I did during the big sale in April. My recommendation assuming you have a PC, is that next time the game goes on sale just go for it.

Really wish they had transfers or cross save (Destiny 2 has really spoiled me in that regard). So much progress, time, and also money sunk into this game on Xbox. Your last bit was the same boat I was in. Honestly the toughest thing going to PC for this game is is making the jump itself. Everything just feels more fluid on controller. I guess for me trying to move around, block, dodge, and activate abilities is just a pain on KBM.

Plus I think when you get down to the combat itself, controller is better imo. Aside from that, I find navigating the menus & map a little clunky compared to controller. Personally the only thing I like about KBM in this game is being able to go to specific menus with certain keys. Imo it’s not much different aside from text chat being more active and you do have the option for add-ons which I haven’t dived into yet.Īs for KBM vs controller, I’d say this is one of those games I think is better with a controller, but it’s all really down to what you’re comfortable with. I just recently got the game on PC after having played it on Xbox.
